The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is an accredited land trust dedicated to conserving the natural heritage and quality of life in the Upper Delaware River region in partnership with the region's landowners and communities. The Conservancy efforts are focused in three main places: land protection, education and events and partnerships and special initiatives.

The vision of the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway is to “highlight what is already an exceptional feature of the region’s appeal to residents and visitors alike’ the highway itself. The most significant and attractive aspects of the byway will continue to be its spectacular highway vistas, access to the Delaware River and its resources, and the uniqueness of the communities along the byway.”

The UDC is classified as a non-profit organization that provides a mechanism to address actions by local, state, and federal agencies which affect the river valley. The UDC represents a formal partnership of local, state, and federal governments and agencies which have joined together to manage the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, a true national treasure.
